Breathing life back into an iconic Bradford landmark

  • June 2012 - Bradford Live formed to find a long term viable use for the historic former Odeon cinema in Bradford
  • 2013 – Bradford Council arrange for work to be undertaken to assist in keeping the building waterproof
  • December 2014 - Bradford Council awarded Bradford Live the rights to re-develop the building
  • 2017 onwards – Bradford Council provide support to help the design and construction process
  • September 2017 - Bradford Live announced the NEC Group as their Operating Partner
  • March 2018 - The project is awarded a £4m grant from the Government's Northern Cultural Regeneration Fund
  • April 2018 - Bradford Live seal contracts with the NEC Group
  • October 2018 -Bradford-born leading social entrepreneur Lord Mawson appointed as Bradford Live's Patron
  • December 2018 - Planning Application submitted
  • 2019 – Awarded a £999,900 grant from the Heritage Fund
  • January 2019 - Works starts on site to remove the 1960's cinema insertions
  • March 2019 - Planning Permission approved to allow the refurbishment and creation of a new 4,000 capacity world-class live entertainment and events venue
  • End of 2019 - Demolition complete. Original building form visible
  • 2019/2020 - Detailed design
  • Autumn 2020 - Main construction tender and appointment
  • April 2021 – Main construction contract commences
  • Opening - 2024
